Half the fun of a party is in the anticipation. Finding the perfect dress, choosing confidence-boosting lingerie, perhaps even a little shoe shopping... preparation is a joy in itself. Lip prep is no different – especially as, when your shade is beautifully applied, it can create a winning first impression.
We like to begin our lip preparation the day before, as part our pre-party pampering and self-care. We find exfoliating and moisturizing are key to providing the perfect canvas for a pout, and love using a homemade scrub, made by simply mixing honey and sugar. We gently exfoliate the lips with the scrub to address any of the dry skin that can make lipstick flake, taking care not to rub too hard. Once you have removed the scrub, our Satin Lipbalm is the next step, to intensely soothe and nourish.
It's nearly party time. When you're ready to apply your lipstick, dab some moisturizer onto your lips and wait until it's fully absorbed. Blot before applying your lipstick to ensure the best grip. You may also wish to use a primer or matte concealer beforehand. With our Matte Silk Lipstick formula, full of rich, pigmented color, there's no need for liners – so that's one step you don't need to think about.
For truly mistletoe-proof lips, we like to layer things up. After your first application, blot with a tissue. For the second coat, we like the 'dab and twist' method. Rather than your usual sweeping application, simply dab on with a little twisting motion. This means the lipstick will reach into the tiny creases on the surface of the lip, for a smoother look that's longer lasting, too.
Then, we seal in the color by finishing with a setting powder. Using a piece of tissue paper between the lips, gently apply pressed powder to the tissue and then remove. This helps to set the lip the same way your powder does with your foundation.
